NEW MARC HEMPEL SANDMAN ART

Six Works Offered on eBay

Marc Hempel returns to The Sandman via two forthcoming eBay auctions of recent works. On the occasion of the Sandman 20th Anniversary - and the concurrent publication of The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 4 - the primary artist of The Kindly Ones has created six new drawings of characters from this climactic story arc. The works are reimagined versions of some of Marc's early promotional pieces of Morpheus, The Corinthian, and his popular Death Gallery drawing, along with a newly-conceived Delirium. This is a rare opportunity to own finished artwork by one of the series' principal artists.

According to Marc, "The great fun I'm deriving from creating these drawings is simply being able to interpret Neil Gaiman's characters as I now see them - utilizing my current sensibilities regarding line, shape, texture, and sometimes color. In most cases I think I've improved substantially on the originals." He added, "These are all finished drawings - fully designed in thumbnails, and completed with India ink, charcoal, colored pencil, and in some cases watercolor or gouache. I haven't done anything this ambitious since the original series!"

The auctions for the first three pieces will begin on eBay Saturday, April 4th, with an additional three being offered a week later. Search for the seller bragwire.
